Generic Norvasc is taken 5mg once a day. In Stable angina the dose is 5 to 10mg once daily in Hypertension the dose is 2.5 to 5 mg once daily Maximum recommended dose is 10mg/day. Your doctor may start you on a low dose of Generic Norvasc and gradually increase your dose. Do not stop taking Generic Norvasc without talking to your doctor.
Before taking Norvasc, tell your doctor if you have liver disease; or another disease of the heart or blood vessels such as sick sinus syndrome, aortic stenosis, heart failure, low blood pressure, or coronary artery disease. You may not be able to take Norvasc, or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment if you have any of the conditions listed above. Cardiovascular disorders: use cautiously in cardiovascular disorders because it aggravates myocardial ischaemia. Sick sinus syndrome. Renal impairment. Use cautiously along with other antihypertensive drugs.
Overdosage might be expected to cause excessive peripheral vasodilation with marked hypotension and possibly a reflex tachycardia. In humans, experience with intentional overdosage of amlodipine is limited. If hypotension remains unresponsive to these conservative measures, administration of vasopressors (such as phenylephrine) should be considered with attention to circulating volume and urine output. Intravenous calcium gluconate may help to reverse the effects of calcium entry blockade. As amlodipine is highly protein bound, hemodialysis is not likely to be of benefit.
